Our Story
Who We Are
Expedition Colombia is a Colombian pioneer and specialist in adventure eco-tourism and active travel since 2012. Born from a close community of international professional athletes, explorers and pioneering adventure guides, we have spent more than a decade creating meaningful adventures that connect travelers with Colombia's wild landscapes, rivers and cultures. All of these efforts are aimed at sharing Colombia's geographical and cultural wonders, as well as its limitless potential for multi-sport adventure and sustainable tourism. Long before many of these regions became accessible to travelers, our team was already exploring remote rivers, jungles and mountains and creating expeditions deep into Colombia's wild places. During these expeditions, we realised how these natural spaces were not only extraordinary places for adventure but most importantly sustained fragile ecosystems existing nowhere else on earth.

Conservation At Core
Many of our expeditions were originally born from conservation projects, exploratory descents, scientific collaborations, and community initiatives aimed at protecting free-flowing rivers like the Río Samaná, the last free flowing river in Antioquia. Over time, adventure became a way to support conservation, local economies, and environmental awareness while sharing these extraordinary places with travelers from around the world. Through our non-profit foundation, Fundación Yumaná, we support watershed conservation, environmental education, and sustainable river management initiatives throughout Colombia. The foundation connects lawyers, advocates and tourism operators to collaborate with grassroots community leaders influencing river management decisions so that Colombia has swimmable, drinkable and fishable water. By partaking in our tours and sharing your experiences, you are participating in the growing social movement to value Colombia's ecosystems and cultures.

In 2026, Expedition Colombia celebrates 14 years of expeditions, conservation initiatives, and partnerships with local communities across the country. Meet The Team
Our Founder
Jules Dominé
Expedition Colombia was founded by Jules Domine, a hydrologist, expedition kayaker, and outdoor guide who has spent years exploring some of the world's last wild rivers. Jules has traveled to more than 15 countries leading and participating in remote multi-day expeditions. His experience includes the first descents of more than 10 major rivers, including the first solo kayak descent through Canada's legendary Grand Canyon of the Stikine. But it was Colombia that changed everything. In the early days of exploring the country's remote watersheds, Jules became the first person to descend the Río Samaná. The experience became a defining moment in his life and sparked a deep connection to the river and the communities surrounding it. Anyone who has experienced a first descent of a wild river understands the bond it creates, throughout his travels, he realized he couldn't keep going from one pristine river to the next, before it was polluted or dammed. He decided to stay in Colombia and work to protect its rivers.

Here remains some of the world's last wild clean rivers and ecosystems, but more importantly, a community of resilient, resourceful, and warm people brave enough to stand up to protect them. That vision eventually became Expedition Colombia: a company built around adventure, conservation, exploration, and meaningful relationships with the people who call these places home.
